How I did it
Using C4D to render cubes of “ice,” I toyed with physical and impalpable notions of preservation. I manipulated a series of photos sent to me b my grandmother, serving as a tenderly awkward fight against time, an effort to retain a connection with memories headed toward oblivion and sociocultural worlds unraveling with assimilation. The Iran of my family’s past has been thawed and thawed out again, but as I suggest in this project, perhaps we can hope that the intangible can be preserved in ways that the tangible cannot.
